Hazel Mitsuko Yanagida, 85, of Lynnwood, WA, and formerly of Kapaa, HI, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2020. Born on April 7, 1935 in Lihue, HI, she was an office manager for Dr. Kenneth Fujii followed by Dr. Paul Esaki.
She was preceded in death by parents, Yoichi and Kaoru Araki Watada; husband, James Yanagida; sisters, Ruth Watada and Betty Uchiyama; and son-in-law, Ken Miyoshi.
She is survived by her daughters, Joy Miyoshi of Honolulu, HI and Everett, WA; Linda (Mark) Naea of Lynnwood, WA; grandchildren, Kelsey (Nicole) Miyoshi of Lynnwood, WA; Kori Miyoshi of Honolulu, HI and Everett, WA; Brennan and Brianna Naea of Lynnwood, WA; great granddaughter, Amelia Miyoshi of Lynnwood, WA; sisters, Jane (Charles, deceased) Hoshino and Nancy (Sherman, deceased) Takata, both of Honolulu, HI; sister-in-law, Fusako Harada of Kilauea, HI; best friend, Edith Ushio of Lihue, HI; and numerous other family members and lifelong friends.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions and required social distancing, a small private service will be held on November 18, at the Kapaa Hongwanji Mission on Kauai.
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
Barton Family Funeral Service and Kauai Memorial Gardens are assisting the family with the arrangements.
